As the 2006-2007 season drew to a close three local boxers were left with the responsibility to ensure it finished on a high note for Kilsyth Golden Gloves at the Tweedie Hall's in Linwood.

First up, Scott Mathieson wasted no time by stopping his opponent after 1 minute 37 seconds of round one. Despite giving away 3.5KG Scott showed why he has earned the reputation as a warrior in the ring. Having won the Scottish Novice Title earlier in the year, he can look back on the season with immense pride at what he has achieved.

Brian Cameron was dissapointed after coming close against David Cowan of Edinburgh's famous Sparta Club. Brian is improving with every outing though and hopefully next season he will be able to emulate his performances in the gym.

Hugh "Bamber" McGhee produced a career best display win a very tough contest against Linwood's Brett Parker. Hugh kept to the game plan and didn't get drawn into the brawl Parker was forcing and boxed superbly to shatter the home fans expectations.

As Meat Loaf would say "two out of three ain't bad" and the Kilsyth club were happy with the nights work.

Club Coaches and Officials would like to thank their sponsors, local councillors and the Burngreen Hall caretaker for the support which keeps the club going from strength to strength.

There will be a boxing display at this years Civic Week gala day where we will showcase the next generation of up and coming talent as well as the more seasoned members of Team Kilsyth.
